Happy Festivus? :-D

What, no excellent holiday snark?

You're all much much nicer than I am.

Or maybe just too freakin' tired.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I really wish I could ask Santa for spoons for Christmas.

Happy Holidays, y'all!!!

Well I haven't visited my family yet and that ex-nurse has shaped-up lately (as we finally called him out on the snark in front of his superiors), but my family usually provides pretty snark-worthy posts.

looking forward to it!

Wow. This person sounds like they're immensely popular.

And by immensely I mean not at all.

But how do they get on with the rest of the world? I don't recall holistic medicine ever being that mainstream.

That sounds like a frustrating worldview. Glad my family at least appreciates the things science has given us, only falling to other "home remedies" for economic reasons.

Unfortunately, more and more of the modern world is becoming complacent to take the word of the likes of "natural news" or what their neighbor/friend/family member believes about medicine versus a medical authority or their doctor.

We were at the grocery store the other day, and the bag boy followed us out to our car because he'd seen kittendaddy using his inhaler and so he had to tell us how he'd cured his asthma by drinking eight 8 oz. glasses of water every day.

My brother tried to tell me that drinking water would cure the fibromyalgia. I told him that idiots who won't even worry that their wives have cancerous cells that need to be addressed have no business trying to tell *me* what will or won't cure fibro.

She still hasn't had that addressed. And I'd be willing to bet that (or the fact that more than 80% of the women in her family have died of breast cancer) was not divulged on their adoption application, either.
Dec. 23rd, 2010 10:43 am (UTC)

That's horrible. Your brother sounds like a real winner! D:
Dec. 23rd, 2010 10:54 am (UTC)
Nope, a dick. ;) I hadn't seen him in like 10 years, and while he was here in early fall mama BEGGED me to come to dinner but I had to behave. I was so good I nearly but through my tongue. I asked her later if she asked him to behave, and she said "no, because ge would have acted worse."

I still haven't met his wife. And they've been married 13years. Apparently they deserve each other. *whistles innocently*
Dec. 23rd, 2010 11:01 am (UTC)

I seriously hope they don't get to adopt a kid. I mean, poor kid!
Dec. 23rd, 2010 02:04 pm (UTC)
I think about that, a lot. *sighs*
Dec. 23rd, 2010 05:55 pm (UTC)

It really disturbs me that your sis-in-law isn't on top of that cancer stuff. That's going to end badly, mark my words.
Dec. 23rd, 2010 07:16 pm (UTC)
I have the same concerns. But I can't do anything about it, you know?
Dec. 23rd, 2010 07:18 pm (UTC)

I know. Unfortunately, some people have to learn things the hard way.

Excellent! Kittendaddy could really use something to make him pee more; it's probably help prevent kidney stones!

Common Sense: So Rare It's a SuperPower.

Here's hoping some generous person gave your family some for Christmas!

Meanwhile, good on ya for doing better and caring more about that than anything else.

And furthermore:

Dear family,
Them that has bad manners gets NO HAM!!

also, I will share this even though it's icky: my non-LJ husband was reading your post over my shoulder and said
"That person should get their family suppositories for Christmas. And when they ask "what's this?" answer "it's your present. It's a suppository. So you can take it and shove it up your ***!!!

... snerk. :-D

For christmas, I want my school to stop fighting me and just let me bring my goddamn service dog to school, rather than insisting that because I don't have a diagnosis yet (we've been searching for one for a while) my horrible balance problems among other things "doesn't rise to the level of disability, and cannot be accomodated." Mmkay then.
Dec. 23rd, 2010 08:29 pm (UTC)
after the break, bring the dog and tell them you've developed situational blindness.

Their stupidity makes you unable to see straight!
Dec. 22nd, 2010 10:20 pm (UTC)
I'm not leaving for the parent's house until tomorrow. And joyfully, my mom's side of the family will all be out of state, and my dad's side isn't getting together!
Dec. 23rd, 2010 08:29 pm (UTC)
woo hoo!
Dec. 22nd, 2010 11:13 pm (UTC)
Too. Much.
Dec. 23rd, 2010 01:08 am (UTC)
I wish that I could go to sleep & wake up with an entirely different life.
Dec. 23rd, 2010 01:29 am (UTC)

I think pretty much everyone on the planet has had that wish at one point or another! I know I have!
Dec. 23rd, 2010 04:54 am (UTC)
One of my two children will be here for a week starting dec 26, I'm not cooking ANYTHING, today was our second anniversary, the liver biopsy wasn't as bad as I feared, and there's a wee little black poodle taking up half the couch cushion so that I can't move or get up without her knowing. Hee!
Dec. 23rd, 2010 08:30 pm (UTC)

My kitties are great for forcing me to stay in my chair to meet their demands for more pets NAOW.
Dec. 23rd, 2010 06:35 am (UTC)
I have a good one from my daughter's Christmas concert... with this prompting I'll post it here. ;)
Dec. 23rd, 2010 08:31 pm (UTC)

Dec. 23rd, 2010 08:39 pm (UTC)
D'oh, and of course I totally forgot this as soon as I said it. Doing it now. :-X

I'm fed up of people saying "OH WOW YOU LOST SO MUCH WEIGHT, GOOD FOR YOU!" to my partner. Yes she lost 4 stones in 6 weeks, but it is fucking DANGEROUS and only happened because she'd had major surgery and was in too much pain to eat. But hey, she's thinner now and therefore a much better person, even though her health has suffered and both of us have lapsed into severely disordered eating patterns as a result. Fucking hard to think "Must fuel my body, healthier is better than thinner, my worth is not in my waist size" when she's being told how OMG BRILLIANT she is for dropping weight and how TINY TINY she is. Especially at Christmas. And will she eat properly now she's healed from surgery? Nope. Especially because of the dipshit insensitive fucks who added "Another two stones and you'll look great". Yes. That's what she needs to do, lose a total of 84lbs in six weeks. That'll do wonders for her health!
Dec. 23rd, 2010 08:32 pm (UTC)
The Will To Be Stupid Is Very Strong.

I recommend responding to these folks that they too can lose weight the same way she has, with just a slight tweaking:
they can just have a limb or two amputated. Same result.

Don't you know? It's better to be unhealthy (even deathly so!) than OMG FAT.

She has my empathy. I went from a 12P to an 8P during my first major depressive episode and people kept telling me how wonderful I looked and really I was just too miserable and throat-sick (different problem, though MDE made it worse) to want to eat much of anything.

And then of course once it was over and I started feeling better, I ballooned to a 16P (where I am now, argh) and got all manner of crap about that. *scowl*
